I'm looking for information on obtaining a Metis status for me and my brothers. I have a family tree (which I know is a requirement), but don't know which forms I need. I did a search on the internet, and got too many results back on that. We are descendants of the Cree Nation. Any help would be greatly appreciated and request that they reply to the provided email.

Looking for information to validate claims of distant relative(s) of a sister of Lois Riel, Julliette.
Most of my birth family are located in Buckingham Quebec and northern Ontario.
Bourassa, Doucette and possibly Pachette. Most info., comes from biological Papere. he was a WW2 vet. I understand he was a guide in northern Ontario during 60's/70's. As an adopted person am looking for a sense of belonging. Place and people to call my own.

This a great web site. Dropping by to check it out and say hello to everyone. I am a Manitoba Metis with my origins in Akwesasne, St. Regis Mohawk Reserve. My Ancestors came to Alberta in the fur trade and then migrated to Manitoba.

This is to Mitchell: Actually there are many Metis in the USA. Sure there is no federal recognition, but there are many associations of Metis who have honored their ancestors by tracing their family roots, and those who belong to the associations are proud of their fur trading and Native heritage.

I am trying to trace my family history and believe my great-great-great grandmother to be of metis background. Her name was either Julienne, Julie Anne, or Julia Desmarais. She was born abt 1839 and married Janvier Frederic Pilette in 1859. She died in Essex, Ontario 12 Feb 1887. Any info greatly appreciated.

I was born July 28, 1953 in Belleville Ontario, under the last name of Genereaux which I always thought was french. I was adopted so have never had contact with my birth parents. Someone told me recently I have the features of a Metis. This is very important to know as my grandson is about to be adopted and if he has metis blood I understand the adoption is different. Anyone out there that may have information please let me know.

This web site is very encouraging. I have been searching for my Native ancestry for some time. Recently, my daughter attended a drumming demonstration in Kingston. a few of the presenters told her that she was native. I was overjoyed to think that she was recognized . If anyone could please link me up via Email with Elaine Jeffery, I would appreciate it. Thanks so much.

I am very interested.Great grandfather married Metis in the Napanee area Ontario. I would love to know my hertiage. I love Indian artifacts and pictures as well as the style clothes.
Grandfather last name was McMullen but some mix up with registration gov. it was changed to MacMullen. Wow what a experience it must have been to follow the paths of the Metis.
